Who doesn't pause at the sight of a newborn?
To be honest it might be the mother of that newborn. So caught up in the cares of feeding, cleaning, and reclaiming her health she may miss the peace of just tenderly holding her child.
Who doesn't joy at a teenager's independance.
Maybe the mother of the teenager. She can tend to get caught up in how much she has been able to control the decisions in the past. How much she could protect her child. The independence reminds her that the child's decisions could harm them. While she has had to deal with this in some ways since the child was a toddler, this time it's new. This time the child does not want her protective arms. This time the child needs to spread wings and fly, falter and soar.
Who doesn't sigh when they see a mother cry?
It might be the mother herself. So caught up in the pain that is hers as the seasons change and the years go by that she could miss the joy that each of her life lessons has given her.
Finding joy in motherhood begins by a simple choice, to laugh, to sing and to dance.
Yes, there are cares and worries. When they go away new cares and worries will come up.
Applying grace can often mean taking a breath and finding your way to laughter.
What a special chance you have to share in the growth of another human being.
What a God-given gift you have to learn more about yourself by watching another grow.
So today, just for a moment, pause to look at your life from an outside perspective.
Don't wait until the years have passed to see the joy you are experiencing today.
It is a choice, so choose it in this moment.
Whatever life is calling you to do, or not do, beyond being a Mother find joy in trusting that God has allowed you to be right where you are for divine purposes. Find gratitude that you have the chance to breath and experience this day filled with faith and joy.
